The concentration of musicians, their movements, and their relation with the instrument are fascinating to draw, both in a realistic way and in cartoon style. A selection of my musicians ended up on a mosaic sofa in Zoetermeer.
Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.2
It was the most impressive concert that I have experienced during my time as a violinist at the student orchestra in Leiden: Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto. More than twenty years later I visualised my memories. They focus on the part where the tympano is steadily drumming the beat (the giraffes), while the violins are busy doing what violins do (the hens).

I like the boldness of markers. I use them for cartoon style drawings, but also for sketches.

I started painting in 2002, when I was living in Singapore.
